It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. Let’s look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

Scandal at Scourie: Lukewarm Garson-Pigeon entry set in Canada, engaging Lutheran couple who stun society while they plan to adopt a Catholic kid. Cast includes Greer Garson, Walter Pigeon, Donna Corcoran, Agnes Moore-head, and Arthur Guards. (124 minutes, 1957)

Gangs Of New York: As a young boy, Amesterdam Vallon saw his father killed during a gang-fight in New York. Moving ahead to 1863, Amsterdam has returned to New York, and plans to avenge his father’s death. He eventually infiltrates the gang of Bill the Butcher, the very man he wants dead.

Night of the Generals: A WW2 whodunit, movie has potential although gets lost in gloomy script, and inanimate behaviors. It is simply a dud. Cast includes Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif, Tom Courtenay, Donald Pleasence, Joanna Pettet, and Christopher Plummer. (148 minutes, 1967)

The Reptile: Strange chiller with a village gal with the bizarre power to change into a snake. Cast includes Noe Willman, Jennifer Daniels, Ray Barrett, and Jacqueline Pearce. (90 minutes, 1966)

Alfie: Well-turned rendition of the Bill Naughton play he additionally inscribed. Caine is marvelous as philandering Cockney playboy who must decide if bachelor life is so bloody remarkable. Cast includes Michael Caine, Shelley Winters, Millicent Marin, Julia Foster, Jane Asher, Shirley Anne Territory, Graham Stark, and Murray Melvin. (114 minutes, 1966)

Deep Crimson: Spectacularly distressing and upsetting real-life crime tale, based on the identical Lonely Hearts” case that empowered The Honeymoon Killers, in regards to the murderous love event between a fat nurse and a gigolo who swindle wealthy widows in 1940s Mexico. Incredibly well performed and prompted research of the banality of the sinister. Bundles a wallop, and holds no punches in its horrible portrayal of the couple’s vicious descent into madness. Cast includes Jerzy Skolimowski, Jane Asher, John Moulder-Brown, Diana Dors, and Michael Vogler. (114 minutes, 1996)

Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops: A B-movie comedy with Abbott and Costello and the silent film industry’s Keystone Kops. It is silent movie slapstick in the talkies. Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Fred Clark, and Lynn Bari lead the cast.

The Abominable Dr. Phibes: This is an old cheesy horror flick with horror icon Vincent Price playing the eccentric Dr. Phibes. After losing his wife to an unsuccessful surgery, Dr. Phibes dies in a car wreck. Or does he? Everyone is baffled as the surgeons who fail to save Mrs. Phibes are all dying. Vincent Price, Joseph Cotten, Peter Jeffrey, and Hugh Griffith fill out the cast. (1971 Horror/Comedy)

The Last Time: Country bumpkin Ferder is moved to the N.Y. home outside of a business where sales exec. Keaton prides himself on his take-no-prisoners strategies. He mentors the ignorant newcomer and ends up in bed with his attractive spouse. There’s more going on than meets the eye albeit the setup is permanently evident. Keaton is excellent. Cast includes Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser, Amber Valletta, Daniel Stem, Neal McDonough, and William Ragsdale. (96 minutes, 2007)
